Boys’ School redevelopment wins RIBA awards

The Foundation is thrilled that the Boys’ School extension has won three prestigious Royal Institute of British Architects awards, to add to a number of awards already received for the ten-year redevelopment project.

The acclaim received were the RIBA London Award 2025 and RIBA London Sustainability Award 2025 while Negar Mihanyar at Hawkins\Brown was recognised as RIBA London Project Architect of the Year.

The judges were impressed with every aspect of the highly complex project and particularly praised, ’The masterstroke intervention… to propose a semi-subterranean sports hall in the courtyard, a beautiful top-lit space.’

Head Teacher Mr Brownhill said, ‘No opportunity for improving the buildings has been overlooked. Entering the school at its new main entrance there is an immediate feeling of elevation and expectation – and joy.’

Behind all this is over £32m funding from Central Foundation Schools of London to make this possible. Chief Executive Sarah Gosling said, ‘We are delighted to have been able to fund this final phase of the Boys School Redevelopment. To see it humming with activity is fantastic. For me the true prize for the Foundation is knowing that we’ve helped create outstanding facilities to support and serve our students and the generations to come.‘
