Delivering our values

The Foundation believes that equipping all of our students to excel and reach their full potential means ensuring access to enriching experiences beyond the national curriculum. The National Baccalaureate Trust (NBT) provides an ideal framework through which to deliver on this important value. We’ve seen that students who are more involved in school life beyond the classroom, are more likely to attend school and have improved wellbeing in the long term.

Extracurricular opportunities

The Central Foundation Baccalaureate is part of an accredited scheme run by NBT. NBT’s mission is to encourage a broad range of learning opportunities to be made available to students, allowing them to gain formal recognition for their achievements that extend beyond purely academic focus.

Opportunities available to all

We want the opportunities we create to be accessible to all students equally. This is our guiding principle. Approximately 50% of our students are eligible for Pupil Premium (this means that they have been eligible for free school meals in the last 6 years).

We feel it’s essential to deliver a programme that ensures all students have access to excellent co-curricular provision, particularly as many may not access these experiences without our support. In order for it to be equitable, we know we need to make the programme free of charge.

The funding from the Peter Hearn Foundation will allow us to create 1,000 places on the Baccalaureate Experience with each participating student attending at least one culture activity and one physical activity throughout the academic year.

The Foundation is incredibly grateful for the generosity of the Hearn Foundation. This partnership brings a particular sense of achievement because successful businessman Peter Hearn is a former student of the Boys’ School and proactively reached out to us to see where the Hearn Foundation could offer support.

Not only will the funds be transformative, we like to think that the act of giving back will be a notable example to our current students who may one day be in a similar position to help future students like them.

If you or your organisation would like to work in partnership with us to help us deliver a uniquely brilliant education we would love to talk to you. Please do get in touch.
